The Kingminded Approach
Being “Kingminded” means adopting a strengths-based mindset focused on personal growth, purpose, and leadership, moving from perceived deficits to taking responsibility, building resilience, developing self-efficacy, and finding one’s unique path, similar to a royal mentality of vision, integrity, and empowering others, rather than being defined by problems It’s about fostering a growth mindset where boys and young men see themselves as capable assets ready to lead, learn from challenges, and achieve their full potential, supported by mentorship and positive development.
B’Coming Kings Curriculum
The B’Coming Kings program is not just a curriculum—it is a call to action. It was born out of both concern and conviction. Today’s boys are often guided more by influencers and online personas than by the men in their lives. We’ve allowed celebrities, athletes, and social media content creators to become the voices of masculinity, while too many fathers, uncles, coaches, and elders remain silent. But now, more than ever, our boys need us to show up. While the curriculum provides the structure, it is mentors who give it soul.
This program aims to bridge the gap between boyhood and manhood, helping young Black boys become resilient, self-efficacious, emotionally aware, and community-minded men. Monica has spent countless hours exploring the historical context of my upbringing in the Black community—not to romanticize the past, but to learn from it and translate those lessons into tools for future generations. Through B’Coming Kings, she weaves together the enduring threads of love, guidance, resilience, and accountability that shaped my life.
