Mentoring Young Men

B’Coming Kings is an innovative, culturally responsive curriculum designed to mentor young men on their transformative journey into manhood by reshaping their thoughts, behaviors, and active participation in community service. Our “Kingminded” approach emphasizes empowerment, resilience, and self-efficacy, aligning with the principles of Positive Youth Development (PYD) while instilling a mindset rooted in personal agency, purpose, and contribution.

The curriculum features dynamic growth sessions that challenge negative mindsets, promote critical reflection, and cultivate positive and purposeful perspectives. Through experiential lessons grounded in positive cognitive behavioral psychology, boys develop the cognitive, emotional, and social skills they need to succeed in all aspects of life.

Inspired by Carter G. Woodson’s seminal work, The Mis-Education of the Negro, B’Coming Kings addresses the importance of reclaiming intellectual sovereignty and challenging narratives that diminish the potential of young Black men. Woodson emphasized that true education empowers individuals to control their own minds, shape their futures, and lead their communities. Our curriculum integrates these principles, equipping young men to think critically, challenge limiting beliefs, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
